Full Itinerary
Day 1: Arequipa – Base Campsite
We begin our adventure at 8:30 a.m., departing Arequipa in a 4×4 truck. We reach our starting point at 5,000 m.a.s.l. After a 2.5-hour hike, we gain 300 meters of altitude to establish our base camp at 5,300 m. We will take a short recognition walk around the camp to help with adjustment and then rest early for the summit attempt. (Note: Chachani does not have permanent glaciers, so technical gear like crampons is used only when seasonal snow is present).
Day 2: Angel Peak – Fatima Peak – Chachani Summit – Arequipa
Our summit bid starts at 2:30 a.m. with hot coca tea and breakfast. We leave the heavy gear at the campsite and begin the ascent.
First, we reach **Angel Peak** (5,825 m), offering our first clear view of Arequipa. We continue across snowy stretches to reach the highest point of **Fatima Peak** (5,900 m).
Finally, after 5-6 hours of total ascent, we reach the **Chachani Summit** (6,080 m). From here, the entire region is visible in its full splendor. The descent to camp takes only 2-3 hours. After packing up, our 4×4 will take us back to Arequipa, arriving around 3:00 p.m.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is this a technical climb?
No, Chachani is often called the “easiest 6,000m peak” because it doesn’t require advanced technical climbing skills, but it is physically very demanding due to the altitude and thin air.
What is “acclimatization”?
It is the process of letting your body adjust to high altitudes. We strongly recommend visiting the Colca Canyon or staying in Arequipa for several days before attempting Chachani to avoid altitude sickness.
Do I need my own crampons?
No, we provide crampons and ice axes if the seasonal snow conditions require them. You just need to bring your own personal warm clothing.
