Itinerary
Sillustani is a highland plateau located about 30 kilometers north of Puno. It is one of the largest ancient necropolises in the world, surrounded by sceneries with impressive beauty. The citadel seems to merge with the calm waters of the Umayo Lagoon. The archaeological site outstands because of its huge “chullpas” (circular stone towers) which were built by Collas and Incas to bury their dead.
Most of the “Chullpas” are more than 12 meters high and their top diameter is larger than the bottom diameter. This represents a challenge to the laws of gravity and equilibrium.
