Itinerary

Day 1: Main Harbor –Uros floating Islands – Amantani

We will pick you up to take you to the Titicaca lake main harbor where we will board the ships to start our excursion.

Uros floating islands. – This will be the first place to visit. We will know the Uros floating islands. Our guide will explain us how the islands are made on the highest sailable lake in the world. This tour will last approximately one hour and a half.

Amantani Island. – We will continue our excursion by sailing 9 kilometers to get to the Amantani Island. The journey will take approximately 3 hours and along it you will see a great variety of beautiful sceneries like the mountain rage (Cordillera de los Andes). Once we arrive to the Harbor in Amantani the president of the village will welcome us. He will divide us in groups and assign each group to a local family, this family will be in charge of giving you all the services you need like housing, feeding and escort. In the afternoon, in coordination with the guide, you will have the option to go for a walk in one of the sacred mountains, called Pacha Tata. Amantani Island is known for the kindness of its people and for being home of the Cantuta flower. This area is populated by 8 small villages; their main activities are agriculture, sheep breeding, artisanal production of fabrics, and stone carving. By night we will rest.

Day 2: Amantani Island – Taquile Island

After a delicious typical breakfast we will head towards the next island, Taquile. We will sail for about an hour. Most people in Taquile is very collaborative and organized, they have shown their high advances regarding to the production of fabrics and this made them be awarded by UNESCO. One thing that must be pointed out is that the spinning and weaving it’s performed mostly by men. They start learning it when they are 8 years old. Life in Taquile has preserved its identity and the influence of modernity can’t be seen easily. The tour will take approximately 2 hours and we will have one hour to taste a delicious typical lunch. There will be some souvenirs and handicrafts that you can buy and help the local community sustainability. Finally the guide will inform us about our departure back to the city of Puno. We will arrive at about 17:00.
