This short version of the Andean trail is an unforgettable experience combining stone paths, wooden bridges, and lush jungle. It is perfect for those who want to experience the essence of the Inca Trail in a shorter timeframe.
- Day 1: Train to Km 104, trek to Chachabamba and Wiñaywayna, and enjoy panoramic views from the Sun Gate (Intipunku) before arriving in Aguas Calientes.
- Day 2: Comprehensive guided tour of the Machu Picchu Sanctuary and return to Cusco by train.
Full Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Kilometer 104 – Aguas Calientes
Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel to head to the train station and board the train towards Kilometer 104, where our trek starts. The first archaeological center we visit is **Chachabamba** (2200 m.a.s.l.). We then continue the route to **Wiñaywayna** (2650 m.a.s.l.) for a guided tour. Afterward, we continue descending towards Aguas Calientes. On the way, we visit **Intipunku** (The Gate of the Sun) to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Machu Picchu. Finally, we have dinner and spend the night in your chosen lodge in Aguas Calientes.
Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
After breakfast, we head to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Our professional guide will lead a 2.5-hour tour visiting: The Main Square, The Intihuatana (Solar Clock), the Mortars room, The Three Windows Temple, The Temple of the Condor, and other important sites. Afterward, you will have free time to explore the areas of your interest. Finally, we return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) and board the train back to Cusco, where we will take you to your hotel.
